For the first time on show in the Netherlands: ‘Represent’ by legendary New York street photographer Jamel Shabazz. ‘Represent’ offers insights into the photographic oeuvre of Shabazz, depicting the dynamic Brooklyn street life from the Eighties until now. It is the invisible people on the streets, the unknown, the ones we might not even notice that are ‘The Stars’ of Shabazz’ work. His images depict prostitutes, criminals, young rappers and schoolgirls alike, all marked by the hard knocks of the Brooklyn streets. Shabazz captures both the vulnerable and strong, beautiful side of the people he chooses to portray.
