Born in 1949 in New York, a Cree Native American Ernie Paniccioli grew up in Brooklyn where he mixed with those who will become the future legends of Hip Hop. He begins his career taking pictures of the graffiti artists and gradually became the official photographer for rap bands like Public Enemy, The Native Tongue, Salt N’ Peppa or the Notorious BIG.
His path crossed with Jamel Shabazz and Joe Conzo making this trio the most representative Hip-Hop street photography of New York. Now 65 years old, he recently been the subject of a full-length documentary. A part of his archives dedicated to Hip-Hop were acquired last year by the prestigious « Cornell University. »

Il commence par prendre en photo les grafittis et devient peu à peu le photographe officiel de groupes comme Public Enemy, The Native Tongue, Salt N’ Peppa ou encore Notorious Big.
L’histoire le rapprochera de Jamel Shabazz et Joe Conzo faisant de ces trois street photographers le collectif le plus representatif et authentique de New York. Agé de 65 ans aujourd’hui, il a récemment fait l’objet d’un documentaire long format. Une partie de ses archives photographiques dédiées au Hip-Hop ont été acquises cette année par la prestigieuse « Cornell University ».
